The Role
Pet Care Specialist
- Part-time weekday position, primarily daytime work
- Current hiring focus: the Sudbury area
- Hours vary based on client needs and are not guaranteed
- Potential for up to approximately 25 hours per week as the route grows
- Starting at $17 per hour
- Mileage reimbursement for eligible travel between client homes
The Work
What the Job Looks Like
Pet Care Specialists travel between clients’ homes providing private dog walks and drop-in pet care. Responsibilities may include:
- ✓Walking dogs privately, not in pack walks
- ✓Providing drop-in pet care
- ✓Following individual pet and household instructions
- ✓Making sure client homes are secured properly
- ✓Completing thoughtful visit updates
- ✓Driving between client homes
- ✓Working independently while remaining part of the Wholesome Hounds team
Is This You?
Who May Be a Good Fit
This could be a great fit for someone who:
- ✓Is 18 or older
- ✓Has a valid driver’s license and reliable, insured vehicle
- ✓Has meaningful weekday daytime availability
- ✓Comfortable driving between client homes and working independently once there
- ✓Comfortable with dogs of all sizes and personalities, and with New England weather year-round
- ✓A clear, professional communicator
- ✓Has a smartphone for scheduling and client communication apps
- ✓Looking for ongoing, long-term part-time work, not something short-term or seasonal
Professional pet care experience is helpful, but it is not required. Reliability, judgment, communication, safety, and willingness to learn are extremely important to us.
Schedule
Hours
Pet care schedules naturally fluctuate. Weekly hours are not guaranteed and may change based on client schedules, cancellations, vacations, seasonal changes, and business needs.
As our routes grow, there may be opportunities for up to approximately 25 hours per week.
